How to Work with This Site

The first page of the site consists of 5 elements:

  1. The colored rectangle in the upper left corner
  2. The main menu
  3. The login panel
  4. The tree view
  5. The map

The colored rectangle

This rectangle is colored according to the highest alert level of the control points (CPs). The text of the corresponding alert is written in it in Bulgarian and English.

The main menu

This menu opens pages in new windows, thus keeping the map accessible all the time.

Its items depend on the level of authorization the user has:

  • For the general public it opens pages with explanations how the model works, what the hydrology of the region is, etc.
  • For professional users it gives access to all the information "published for professionals"—bulletins for the CPs, or for the general bulletin for the region
  • For the administrators (hydrologists on duty) it gives the possibility to change some or all alert levels, generated by the model, to edit the bulletins, adding some comments, to publish some or all the bulletins for the general public and/or for professionals.

The login panel

If you are an authorized user, use it to log in. Once logged in the pannel will change to logout.

* If you would like to optain an authorizations (for example if you are a mayer in the region), please, contact NIMH-branch Plovdiv.

The tree view

The tree view in the left part of the first page is automatically generated, retrieving in real time the actual set of control points and published bulletins from the database and displaying them according to the authorization the user has. The balls in front of the control points are colored according to the degree of alert as follows:

When one clicks a + sign, a submenu is opened.

The map

The map component itself consists of the big map, the small key map, the legend and 4 instruments. With the instruments one can zoom and pan the big map, and extract the bulletin for a chosen CP.

Choose this icon to zoom-in. Then click on the big map in the point that you want to be the centre of the new image. A zoomed map will be generated and on the key map the shown region will be indicated. You can click on the key map as well.
Choose this icon to zoom-out. Then click on the big map in the point that you want to be the centre of the new image. A zoomed map will be generated and on the key map the shown region will be indicated. You can click on the key map as well.
Choose this icon to pan (recentre) the map. Then click on the big map or the key map in the point that you want to be the centre of the new image. A new image will be genereted without changing the scale.
Choose this icon if you'd like to retrieve the bulletin for a CP. Then click on the chosen CP. The information about the point will show under the big map with a link to the corresponding bulletin. After clicking that link, the bulletin will open in a new window.

On the legend all the layers drawn on the map are shown. One can switch them on/off by checking the squares in front of their symbols and then by clicking , one can obtain a new big map with only the chosen layers.

For printing and downloading the bulletins browser's features are used.
